NALI 2025 Keynote

Reinventing the Future of University Courses with AI

Higher education is under pressure to address massification, personalisation, and lifelong learning. Traditional course design, shaped by rigid syllabi and standardised assessments, is no longer adequate. This keynote explores how Artificial Intelligence can support the reinvention of instructional design in university courses, enabling educators to create more dynamic, inclusive, and responsive learning experiences. AI provides tools for smarter analysis of learner needs, adaptive curriculum pathways, accelerated content development, and enhanced feedback systems. Yet, the core of course reinvention remains human intelligence—the creativity, empathy, and wisdom of educators in designing purposeful learning. AI should be seen not as a replacement, but as a supporting partner that sparks new ideas and extends instructional possibilities. By emphasising creativity in course design and leveraging AI thoughtfully, educators can ensure that future university courses remain human-centred while embracing innovation.
